Original Stanley Hicks Banjo -- with Measurements!
🕑 Added 2024-06-08 15:00:02 +0000 UTCWe recently had the opportunity to take some snapshots of an original Stanley Hicks mountain banjo currently in a private collection. This example is thought to have been made by Hicks at his home in western North Carolina around 1965. I've often received requests for a set of measurements for building mountain banjos, hence the ruler in several of the shots.

When I build them, I usually make them a little wider.

is there a such thing as a banjo with a wider neck than 1.25?

I don't think he built them with any particular scale in mind. They are usually a bit short so 25" to 26" scale something like that.

Whats the scale length on this banjo?
