VPR is such a big deal because it's not as simple as "well, everyone cheats." 1. They don't and 2. It's not about the cheating (or the pasta), it's because Tom has NPD. They did not teach us about NPD when I studied psychology in university ...because it's so tricky to navigate and explain. It's a big deal because Tom gets off on being deceitful. He gets pleasure and glee and duper's delight out of seeing his "loved ones" get duped and triangulated and have the wool pulled over them. He is pathological and many people like him go further and beat their partners or financially ruin them while being so popular and loved by everyone else in their circle. But this time, he doesn't get to isolate. He's contractually obligated to sit there and hear a group of people say "we see you". This is a rare opportunity to see a narcissist panic and what their piss-poor strategies look like. All on film.

My parents bought my 14 year old sister the VIP experience on Derek’s tour and he was beyond amazing to her. He took time out of the tour to make a video for my mom and the rest of my sisters and he even solo danced with my sister. It was really special and she loved it.

So - LeBron. I went to HS in Ohio, but I worked in a pizzeria that is well known in Ohio, Marco's. So I took a call, and this guy ordered a ton of pizza. Ten cheese, ten pepperoni, ten with banana peppers. Thirty pizzas! And he told me "I'm LeBron James." So this is 20 years ago, he was still just some cool high schooler, like, nothing to sniff at. So I assumed the guy talking to me is lying. It all works out that it was him all along, and he's ordering a bunch of pies. He was a kid so no worries. There was zero tip left but I'd been pretty unbelieving that he was THE LEBRON. So. I still love when I think of that story.
