“Unlike me, you can keep your head out of this shit… maybe she should just abdicate, relax for a couple hundred years at least and work out whether it’s her or the job… of course she won’t, prideful twat,” Plasia spat out. “Anyway, I was thinking that you could kick Krieg’s ass for me…”
Both of John’s eyebrows shot up. She might as well have said that she was withholding the transformation for several hundred levels. Krieg was level 950 and the literal god of war. When it came to combat, he would be one of the greatest challenges on the entire planet. “…But…?” John coaxed it out of the Mother of Fire.
“Tsk,” she vocalized her annoyance. Head tilted, she stared at him. A proper one, I want to see passion in that fight.”
John scratched the back of his head. “Just me?”
“The many yous…” she confirmed. Her eyes were trailing something in the air, probably the many strings that connected this part of John’s consciousness with his being as a whole. Even now, he was taking a meeting with ministers and screwing Hailey. “…and your elementals. That should give you a fighting chance, at least.”
Rubbing his chin, John wondered when he’d get the opportunity to fight Krieg. ‘The Divided Gates meeting? He will certainly be a guest there… I’d lose in front of the entire world though.’ The idea irked his pride. ‘Might be tactically sound to do.’ An attempt to convince himself and it was halfway working. ‘Or I could just win.’ “Not like I have a choice in the matter, do I?”
“Not if you want to see what else the primordial fire has to offer for this asshole.”
“Hate you too, bitch,” Salamander shot back.
“If you two want to catch up a bit more, I can leave you,” John offered.
They accepted that and he went back to Earth on his own.
