John felt like he had to weigh in at the pause. “You’re doing extremely well,” the Gamer said. The only reason why he didn’t say ‘perfectly’ was that he knew Undine would not accept that. “Have you ever calmed when someone told you to?” Undine asked, glaring across the Gamer’s chest. Salamander didn’t look back; her gaze was directed at the tree that was planted atop the smooth cliff John was leaning against. The entire lake was extremely stylized. The silence allowed the abysstide elemental to actually recollect herself. Closing her eyes, she apologized, “I’m sorry for lashing out.”
“It’s fine,” Salamander assured.
“No, no, it is not,” Undine disagreed vehemently again, although her voice was not as dramatically different this time. “My emotions cannot control me. I must channel them, as I deem appropriate.”
“See, that’s what I admire about you,” the apocalypse elemental directed her gaze at the slime girl, “strict with yourself at all times, because the only expectations you really care about are your own.” A red hand rose from the water in a halting gesture, stopping the water spirit from responding immediately. “I know that you try to improve because we’re all looking at you and all that shit. What I mean is that you actually take that to heart and make something from it. I don’t give a fuck about most people’s opinions either, but that kinda includes myself, so I just stay myself.”
“There’s no problem with who you are,” Undine whispered.
“Problem? No, I’m awesome,” Salamander grinned broadly, “but I could be better.”
“You won’t be better by being more like me.”

John shook his head amusedly. “Yeah, we’re all honest with each other here,” he responded, “and you still stand out. You’re important, evil overlady, so give yourself more credit.”
“I guess?” Salamander sounded far from convinced. This was about as much as they could say though, as she then cried out, “Urgh, whatever, I hate talking about me, so can we stop?”
