We don't really know what "a dungeon worth delving " supplies. We assume it gets the outer layer of the soul structure on killing an adventurer, so I'm curious what a trade will look like. Safety/regulation for mana and the true story of the Amber's idol? It will be fun to see how you've planned your dungeon ecology.

Brandon C

He’s going to negotiate with it. I don’t think it’s going the Purple route since it’s pretty strong. I’d negotiate a “training” ground for future people coming in. Like our idea of a DND dungeon. Or something boring like enchanting a weapon/armor

Person

Ah, but they don't know that Purple is intelligent, nor that house Carlos is in constant contact with it.

Douglas Miller

Not a typo. "Deadly dangerous" is a valid and somewhat common two word phrase in English.

I wonder what he'll ask for. Any ideas?

Brandon C

“Deadly dangerous”? Is that a typo? Also congrats on catching up. Whether I stick to gold or not, we’ll have to see.

Scott Snyder

Talk about an early Christmas gift! Thank you so much! I hope you are doing well over this holiday season and I hope this new year is full of happiness and prosperity for you!

Douglas Miller

Part of what's involved in the process of absorbing mana is making it more orderly, "tame", and controlled, rather than the largely chaotic randomness that ambient mana normally has. Said chaotic randomness is a major contributor to the risk of soul erosion damage. Dungeon mana is less chaotic and more orderly even before you absorb it, so it naturally causes less erosion and the safe rate limit to avoid erosion is higher. This advantage is not a secret, but it's not widely known and is rarely used, because using it inherently involves pissing off a dungeon that you are inside of and that has denser and more powerful mana than you.

Connor Mcharg

…um… Does absorbing dungeon mana raise the limit on absorbing without eroding? 'cause Lorvan said that (if you ignore the dungeon trying to stop you) it would even be faster than normal, but I thought they'd hit the hard limit.

Connor Mcharg

Somehow, I doubt the next chapter will go like this, but: Dungeon core: [What you want?] Carlos: [No, what do you want?] Dungeon core: *explodes*

Douglas Miller

Not in a million years.

Connor Mcharg

…yeah, Darmelkon and Tornay *really* weren't going to buy the “I asked nicely” explanation, were they?

Ashley Wallis

Thanks, I love the lessons in general dungeon core knowledge while enroute. They are smart to gleam as much knowledge about cores passively without attracting too much attention in that topic. Although the guards do know about Purple it may not be a the top of mind for them since it's so rare or the first.
