Yeah he has been somewhat mean spirited lately.

Jambles

Yeah, not into the whole "someday I'll be the bully" kinda power fantasy. I guess if you're intentionally writing a cautionary tale, but like... this doesn't seem like that kind of setup, it just seems like low-grade shittiness, and how do you make meaningful repercussions for that? I guess maybe by first escalating the shittiness and creating tension? but it doesn't seem like that kinda story.

Dan Jones

will it be possible to create soul structures to connect people together like parallel processors.

Dwarf_King

From our point of view, that makes sense. But the mayor grew up in an feudal society where nobility have almost unchecked power. He has two options right now. Do the best he can do for his new Lord and Lady and keep his job (Dramos always needs a major, who does the day to day tasks) or go against them and lose everything. And Carlos always treats him with respect and asked him for advice. But on the other hand people don't always react rational, so his betrayal might still happen. But in the end he will die or be way worse of.

Anthony Gerald Miller

I'm wondering at the way Stelras is happy to accommodate and hand power over to this green noble who just shows up and says "This is my town now." No resistance that I recall, just "You want the reins of power? Sure, here they are." Remarkably cooperative. Maybe he's secretly resentful and plotting to foil Carlos's plans. That would make an interesting plot twist.

The Grey One

It worries me how quickly Carlos has fallen into the bossy-little-lordling role. Lorvan is ostensibly someone Carlos has respect for, and this is the second time in quick succession that Carlos has publicly "admonished" Lorvan in a humiliating fashion, when it was both clearly unnecessary, and the same outcome could be achieved with a respectful request or polite order instead. It seems power corrupts especially quickly, or perhaps Carlos is merely that shallow in his social norms? Hard to judge the rest of the nobles if our 'hero' is merely more of the same...

Dwarf_King

Imagine the possibilities of two dungeons loyal to the house Carlos. Purple (still the weaker one) is in charge of the Carlos estate and the new dungeon (more powerfull) as the guardian of dramos. Carlos and amber could "know" everything that is going on in both places. And the "monsters" of the new dungeon could help the city guard. Imagine stone statues lining the walls and in the chase of a threat, all coming to life. That has so much possibilities

That moment when you wish the author was writing full time with daily chapter updates <3

Dmitri

I wonder if they could convince it to extend a corridor out in the direction of the wellspring to funnel the higher level aether somehow

Dmitri

and distinctly different from Purple in its own way.. which I guess it would given that it has a dungeon established and a good flow of delvers resulting in an entirely different development and set of vested interests (mainly having a good time in its domain)

Dmitri

YES that please

Ben Bass

TYFTC! I like how Trinlen is fairly contrite right off the bat when faced with how others perceive him. Can’t wait to see how delving this dungeon goes, I wonder how many ideas they can get to help keep Purple going in the future.

David

The dungeons have unionized, all glory to their labor.

Jambles

T-pose for efficiency. Set up a temporary soul structure to maintain spacial stasis. Go AFK.

Jambles

Hierarchical dungeon render farm house

Josh

Please be a friendly communicative dungeon, please be a friendly communicative dungeon...

Josh

Having Stelras negotiate on their behalf was an inspired idea: not only is he likely to be better at it, but having the negotiator be someone who has to check with someone else for final approval is a classic negotiation tactic. Heads I win, tails I get to finesse or veto the negotiation that the counterparty thought was done.

Person

And form chat rooms with each other?

The overall trip is based on how far Carlos and Amber can get, sure. My assumption is that they'll start out fairly slow, but mostly use that time to practice, learn, and get to know each other, before the two lords go off to fight the Big Boss.

viperfan7

For some reason I'm imagining them just standing at attention

Connor Mcharg

Except they blatently planned their journey based on how long it’d take them as greatly accelerated nobles to achieve the trip.

harkange 585

I assume they will take them to as high as they can absorb and wait there before moving on, fhat way they progress as far as they can as fast as they can

David Ellis

"He lifted the curtain, and Carlos stared in amazement at the vista beyond it." "An exact replica of The Legend of the Hidden Temple set!?"

Sid_Cypher

I wonder if you could teach most dungeons to communicate with each other, that'd be fun.

Connor Mcharg

Well, I guess that explains why Spike didn’t want to come - it had a perfectly good thing going on there, and this interloper just wandered in and wanted to take it away from its hard-earned levels. Also, I can’t escape the idea of Lorvan and Ordens flying in an Ironman pose, even though that would be sub-optimal when wearing armour that gave flight controlled by thought (which seems to be the default for spells). …I’m also wondering how they plan on not being slowed down by Ressara’s limited absorption speed (and, to a lesser extent, Trinlen’s) - it sounds like they’re probably not handing out noble plans willy-nilly.

Alexander Riehl

Thanks for the chapter!
