Ephemeral Aegis
Armor (Shield), Very Rare (requires attunement)
—----------------------
Created by Professor Alraud Mezzier of The Archive, the Ephemeral Aegis was one of his latest inventions, originally designed as a testing device for his studies in Chronomancy. Mezzier sought to manipulate the laws of causality by cutting away certain events and suspending them in an alternate temporal timeline. This allowed him to temporarily erase specific occurrences and their immediate consequences, effectively holding them in stasis. The Ephemeral Aegis enabled the creation of a temporal sanctuary where damage and conditions inflicted upon individuals could be delayed, giving him a crucial window to observe and study the effects without interference. Though the temporal suspension was brief—lasting only until the alternate timeline merged back with the original—it provided invaluable insights into the manipulation of time, pushing the boundaries of what was thought possible in temporal magic.
—----------------------
The Ephemeral Aegis grants you a +2 bonus to AC.
Temporal Influence. When you roll initiative, you can choose to adjust the initiative count of creatures within 20 feet of you (including yourself) by an amount up to your proficiency modifier, either adding or subtracting as you see fit. Unwilling creatures must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw to resist this adjustment.
Temporal Sanctuary. As an action, you activate the Ephemeral Aegis, creating a 20-foot radius aura centered on you that lasts for 1 minute or until you dismiss it as a bonus action. While the aura is active, you can use your reaction to delay the damage and conditions inflicted on up to a number of creatures equal to your Constitution modifier within the aura.
Each affected creature has its own pool of delayed damage and conditions, which are suspended for the duration of the aura. When the aura ends, each creature suffers the accumulated damage and conditions delayed for them. If a creature ends its turn outside the radius, it immediately suffers the accumulated damage and conditions.
Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until you complete a long rest.

This item is inspired by the ability of a character in the manga series D-Grayman. The concept of her ability is so unique that I want to replicate it as an item here. Those familiar with the series might also know some heartbreaking scenes that happen as a result of using this ability.

Ok, this is just really cool. Shield looks awesome and the mechanics are quite novel (and I guess I should really read that manga). Initiative modifying is powerful and the delay damage stuff is ripe for cool strategizing.

This would be a fun thing to use on an enemy. You cause him "no damage" just for it all to hit him later to confuse his comrades

Director: "Alraud-" Alraud: "It's Ordell again isn't it." "Yes." "God dammit."

yeah, that's precisely what I'm replicating here XD although I limit it to reaction, so the user gotta make a choice every time...

Mechanically very interesting. It reminds me of the one character from DGrayman that has time powers. They more rewound the damage so others could act as though the damage never happened. But the damage comes back. This is a fun item.
