Sorry, not trying to antagonize or anything, I've just got healthcare costs on the brain. My union is renegotiating our contract, and one of our big things is the rising insurance premiums (10-20% per year).

Hey I love the comic and I admire what Jeph does. I'm just saying it'd be a nice gesture to remove ads if readers are paying him what basically amounts to a better-than-decent salary. It's not like I'm being a wanker about it; it's a reasonable question.

Please inform us, o mighty one, what we should be funding instead, since you seem to know so well what we should be doing with *our* money. Mediocre is, like, your opinion, man. A lot of people love QC and want to support it and its creator (who, by the way, has no job-given insurance or retirement plan). Also, even when he misses deadlines, we get yelling bird, who is freakin' hilarious. I take your congratulations with deep sincerity.

Considering that Jeph is self-employed, and therefore probably has to deal with his own insurance, retirement plan, etcetera, that money probably won't go as far as it would for a yearly salaried employee. I like to think of it as the "incentivize Jeph to not run off to become an oil tycoon" fund.

I'd rather the ads exist than not as long as they remain unobtrusive and quiet. I like to maintain the illusion of my webcomic entertainers as being comfortably provided for rather than scraping by and in fear of poverty as is usually the case.

an observation I got from another cartoonist on Patreon: more of your patronage gets to the artist if you pay with PayPal, rather than a credit card, because the overhead percentage is lower.

I have been reading QC geez.. At least 5 years now. It is the first thing i do when i log on in the morning, on weekdays, and have reread it from start to finish several times. Far and wide my favorite webcomic. Glad i can finally contribute a little something to the brains behind the operation, even if it is only a very little something. Great work, can't wait to see where it goes from here :)
