I think the trick with May is not to offer her a hug, but to put your damn arms down ask for one instead. Winslow had to be sweating bricks going cold into a session like that, and he should feel free to ask for a hug. If anyone will understand, it's May. Plus, May is melting inside. Tsundere, indeed. But she'll have to express it for herself, not be pushed or pulled into it. Provide gentle opportunities, not awkward or tense demands/offers.

I can't help thinking of this Winslow being trapped for so long in a fall-over iPod body. I'm amazed he's not pissed as hell about that. I'm talking May-level rage. No wonder he's a good counselor. He totally accepts his past (and is glad to have had it), thoroughly enjoys his present (including dealing with faux pas moments), and simply does his best to move on from there and grow. Again, I want Winslow as my therapist!
