To be honest, I really don't see a lot of drama coming from this. Seems more likely Claire will be teasing Marten a bit about this, given how uncomfortable he became at the mention of Padma. "Stupid" drama just doesn't seem like a thing their relationship would see much of.

Genuinely not sure why the circumstances in which Marten moved to Northhampton would at all mitigate the way he treated Padma. IIRC he explicitly told Faye he had no plans to move across the country for Padma, nor did she (Padma) ask or expect him to. She just wanted to see him one last time, and Marten blew her off in a passive-aggressive snit.

What should happen: Marten: "Stop. Renee, before you spill, Claire deserves some context. Wait right here. Claire, please step over here a minute and I'll give you a little backstory." Claire: "...Okay." Renee: "Wait, I wanna hear this, too." Marten: "No. You've already made your judgements. I want you to keep them when you fill her in. Don't worry, everything I tell her will be from before Padma." *Draws Claire aside, tells her about the circumstances that caused him to move here. Takes her back.* Marten: (to Renee) "She's all yours. I'll be at the table."

Marten's response to the Padma situation was probably the lowest he's been as a character; I'm interested to see how this affects his relationship with Claire.
