Jim had a totally understandable parental over-reaction to the incident. Give him some time to get some perspective, so that he can understand the proper magnitude of what happened and what his reaction should have been.

I'm concerned that Jim was perfectly fine with Sam learning how to handle hot metal and welding equipment from Faye... but the moment the least injury (and compared to the things that MIGHT have happened, it really was Minor) occurs, he turns on her like a rabid badger. ... That tells me that even tho Jim is a concerned Parent (which I admire, having been one myself), He is also willing to turn on his friends over relative trifles. That does NOT speak well for him. That's the behavior of an asshole, not a good person.

The emotional reassurances are right there, in how she's holding Faye. The actual words said in such situations matter much less. At least that's my experience.

Faye is miserable and more than a bit jealous, as both Sam and Jim have (temporarily, at least) shifted their admiration to Bubbles. I hope Bubbles shows some empathy. Her reassurances are factual - not emotional. I wouldn't be surprised if Vanessa shows up as she did with Dora.

Panel 4 tells me that Faye thinks that Bubbles may be attempting 'reducing tension through humour'. Of course, that means that, like almost everyone she knows, her girlfriend is a smartass.

There is this level of Zen/ contentment that you draw into bubbles face (or that I read into it) that I am both happy for and mildly jealous of.

I see asymmetries growing in Fayebles, where Bubs is taking the lead, and Faye is (again, still) dealing with her limitations. In terms of growth, Bubbles has surged while Faye remains on her bumpy path. Is this a portent of Fayebles troubles ahead? Will Fayebles reach a breaking point, or simply grow apart? Stay tuned!
