I've spent a ton of time this year (hundreds of hours) tutoring high school students in Math (I'm considering a career change to teaching). The greatest challenge is NOT the Math! It's getting the students to trust their own thinking, to have the courage to work the problem instead of being paralyzed with fear or doubt. To be willing to make a mistake! With the goal being for them to develop the skills to FIND and FIX their mistakes. Most of us don't learn much from success: Failure is by far the far better teacher, but only if we are willing to fail, to take that risk and brave the empty page. I *LOVE* it when students make mistakes! It makes it so easy for me to zero in on the missing skill. What's worst for me is when a student leaves a problem totally blank, without even an attempt at working toward the solution. That's the only time I "imply" blunt force trauma.

Well, it seems like Marigold hasn't changed much: Still passive and looking for other people to fix her problems for her. She also STILL needs Momo to drive her to do things that she wants to do anyway! As for Hannelore, she's growing in so many ways. I mean, I doubt that she could even get close to a large, outdoors-living bovine before this. I strongly suspect that, when she returns from her voyage, she will be unrecognisable and I'm not just talking about the tan!

I love the way Momo helps Marigold. The threat of blunt force trauma was NEVER clearly stated, but definitely implied in Momo's stance and tone of voice.

I love how much Hannelore has grown. When I go back I read the backstory about her childhood that Station told Marten, it’s extraordinary to see that formerly terrified and nearly non-functional little girl has grown into this kick-ass self-assured adventurer, someone in control of her life.
