Agreed; this is the point where Faye's brain fills in the blanks. When Bubbles returns, Faye will be so afraid and will have worked herself into such a panic that she'll not even THINK of holding back.

The most likely explanation is that Bubbles is out getting some supplies. However, Faye's brain will assume the worst. The heartbreak she feels at the thought of losing Bubbles will fill in the few remaining blanks and kill the few remaining doubts she has. Bubbles is going to be very surprised when Faye jumps her when she comes back. I mean, she doesn't MIND being glomped and then held in a death-grip whilst Faye babbles apologies and professions of love but it's still pretty darn shocking!

It's actually a good thing - even if Bubbles is just out for essential shopping, Faye would be too scared of the idea of losing her to "take time to think it over". Faye may say to Bubbles much more on the adrenaline than she was planning on.
