There's a recurring character in Gibson novels, Rydell, who every so often just goes for it. That is, he makes sudden, drastic decisions on impulse and intuition. He is right maybe three-fourths of the time, often heroically. When he's wrong, the results are disastrous. He's an adventure novel hero displaced into a slightly more complex fictional universe. Roku and May are like that, only slightly less able, and displaced into a novel of (bad) manners, where there is no room for heroism at all. And now they are friends. This should be interesting.
