I doubt that she expected to NEED to. Most people have an automatic aversion to dunking their head in buckets full of complex chemical broths. I say 'most people' because Faye obviously isn't one of them (and, I suspect, neither is Sam).

Wow! Momo has never before been so animé! I also suspect that her hair is quite a bit longer than it was before. This is the point when we're reminded that, as well as being her girlfriend, Bubbles is Faye's thinking-brain assistance AI. Faye has as many impulse control problems as May in her own way. For example, at this point, she's being prevented from putting her head in a bucket of caustic chemicals that crystallise into hair-simulating polymer chains. That said... Maybe the idea itself isn't unthinkable. Some mind of chemical that crystallises into Keratin? Finally, I know it's the arm of the engine hoist but doesn't it look like Bubbles has an M1906 Springfield bolt-action rifle slung over her back?
