I typed 'flo' into Google and 'flong' was literally the third thing offered. I'm guessing Google knows I read QC, and saw a bunch of other QC readers asking the same thing.

Prang. It's a car wreck in England. Also I'm quite fond of one of the words in Japanese for snake. Most say Hebi but an older way is Kuchinawa, which means rope with a mouth.

I am partial to "gudgeon," the socket parts of a hinge, particularly because the piece that goes through the gudgeons, holding the hinge together, is the pintle, which means penis. It just figures that is what a bunch of carpenters would call it.

I don't think you can hold people accountable when they live up to a stereotype. When white people talk about black people liking fried chicken for example, they're dehumanizing black people. But when an individual black person likes fried chicken, he's just living his life, trying to enjoy what's pleasing to his taste buds without white people getting on his case about it.
