Could be. People who are funny often start out by being peculiar and then learning how to perform a modified form of their peculiarity in order to make their friends laugh and cheer them up. Melon might well be doing that. She has a great deal of good will and very little concern for preserving her dignity.

What if Melon is more like Emily then we've been lead to believe? She could be fully self aware of her "uniqueness" and panel 4 is really her sense of humor. Honestly, it's something I'd think to do.

I am pretty sure that in the first panel Roko is worrying about whether she is the same person as when she had her old body and whether she has in fact ever been any person at all, and wondering if her hair looks nicer this way. She may, if particularly adept, be thinking that maybe existential crises make her hair look nice, and considering whether this makes them worthwhile. All of these are fine ways to spend time, but it is good to have a friend come snap you out of it.
