14-year-olds are surprisingly resilient. I used to jump from higher than 8 feet quite often when I was that age. It's when she <i>does</i> grow up that she won't be able to do it as easily. I'm doing well to jump out of bed without hurting myself these days.

if she's an old, good lord I hesitate to imagine what I am. at a meeting with 3 senior Naval officers the other day, as they compared year groups (year of commissioning - seniority thing) I realized I graduated graduate school before any of them graduated undergrad. & I spent years at sea before going back to grad school.

I'm reminded of that time where Dora hadn't given a key to any of the opening crew, and one of them (I'm thinking it was probably Raven) breaks in through the air vents, with ... poor results. Once as an undergrad, I decided the reasonable solution to locking myself out of my dorm room was to go out the bathroom window on the opposite side of the hall, pull myself up onto the roof (I was on the top [4th] floor), climb over the slate roof, drop down to a ledge outside my window, and get in that way. Sadly, I can agree this is fun. Did it a couple time in art school, after the building closed down so I could work on a project. I would have not have been as cavalier about it though if someone walked in....
