Even as a former Latin student I had to go look that up, and discovering the Vitruvian principles of architecture makes the original joke twice as good. Beauty, sturdiness, and usefulness are excellent criteria for butts, and also for genitalia.

If Jim is going to be cranky every time Faye checks in with him maybe he shouldn’t set that as the baseline expectation.

I cracked up at the word "Now" in the last panel :D I do commiserate with the poor fellow, for a long while he was Sam's only parent and so must feel very protective of her, and worries about her safety, but at the same time knows that Faye and Bubbles are wonderful role models and he feels grateful to them for that, so doesn't want to restrict Sam from learning from them. Today's strip conveys that so well.

I also have no butt and it's more of a comfort/ergonomic problem than an aesthetic issue for me. It's a fool who looks for logic in the chambers of the human heart, or in this case the pants area of strangers.

Ok, so here's what I don't get, if she cares enough about human appearance as to have realistic genitals then why doesn't she have a nose? I mean, yeah, I'm sure lady bits are a bit more important than a nose, but if both are just options then why wouldn't she have both? Don't get me wrong, she's cute without a nose, she doesn't NEED a nose, but she also doesn't NEED realistic genitals since most AI are walking around without them apparently. And your nose is right in the middle of your face. Unless you're walking around naked people notice your face a lot sooner than your genitals.

Mostly I just use old backgrounds as reference when I’m drawing a new one, so the props stay in more or less the same location. It helps that the shop is basically a big open rectangle!

You know, one of the most common things I've noticed in queer experience is as a teenager being strictly prevented from spending time in possibly compromising ways with the opposite sex, with exactly zero rules being set up around doing so with the same sex. Just sayin'. :big grin:

Come on, Jim... You <i>know</i> Sam is going to end up studying this stuff in college anyway, so it's just as well that she gets some on-the-job training. There might be some room for concern if Millfeeul were a <i>male</i> human-standard android.
