If it hasn't worn off by the time Jim herds her to bed, he's going be REALLY mad a Faye. OTOH, if it has worn off and Sam crashes and burns, it'll be the most peaceful night they've had in that house in ages and he'll be giving Faye props for working the kid hard enough to wear her out.

Most 14 year old girls I know would be just as wired after 3 bottles of Coke in that short of a time. So I'm not a bit surprised that Sam is acting that way. Her Dad probably restricts her intake of soda - and wisely so. He probably didn't expect her to start drinking coffee until she was older.

There's a reason I own nitpicking.com -- I read these last couple of comics and think, "But a latte only has the caffeine of 2 or 3 bottles of Coke. Has Sam really reached that age and never drunk a Mountain Dew?"

I was wondering the same. Maybe a shorthand for whatever they use as "bones" in AIs? Poly-organic bone? Polymer bone?
