Also, wonderful thing in this sequence: Faye and Bubbles had a really scary moment. Faye freaked out and ran away. Bubbles gave her space to do that. Faye talked it out, calmed down, and realized everything was actually OK and she was just having her own trauma reaction. She went back and they had an open and loving conversation. Relationship goals right here. :)

I was in a toxic relationship when I lived in Ithaca. It was so toxic, I went to spend a weekend in my hometown at my sister's house... and spent several months there before getting my own apartment in my hometown and going back to Ithaca to get my things and my cat. (My only regret was being away from my cat for so long.) There are many times I think about what my life would be like if I had never gotten into that relationship and moved to my hometown. Within that first year, I met my best friend and my girlfriends. I had to put up with a lot of toxic crap... but I wouldn't change it, either.

I'm not sure you can make a perfect mapping between a human with PTSD (I have problems with dissociation and hyper-vigilance, so I'm at least tangential to the topic) and an AI with Bubbles' experience. I mean, I guess none of us know! But, point being, to run with your analogy, it would be completely reasonable for there to be a story in which a formerly disabled AI (do we still call them robots? I'm losing track) was repaired, or got a new body, to the point that it's basically happened already. So... sure, Bubbles can do what Bubbles can do. I can't help but notice that Faye hasn't truly thrown away her trauma, to use your phrase. Of course, it's entirely possible that Bubbles hasn't, either. Just because you say you're fine doesn't mean you are, or always will be, or will be in every situation.

My SO with PTSD would be unable to read the arc where Bubbles' memory was erased. It would be too painful for her. She cannot throw away her trauma like Bubbles did. No one truly can. Is it similar to having an arc where someone in a wheelchair can miraculously walk again? Is it ableist? I'm not sure. What does everyone think? EDIT: I'm not trying to be critical of Jeph, I just want to hear other people's opinions. Does anyone with PTSD want to chime in about their experience reading this comic?
