Metal beer keg, you say now? That sounds like a moving goal post to me. Also, very few people would have access to the OSHA reports, especially since I'd guess many bar owners would do their best to keep those things from being reported if they happened on their watch. (I'm not trying to say that's *reasonable* behavior. It's just that 100% of the bar owners I've interacted with to a significant extent and am remembering at this moment struck me as the sort of people who would evade all possible governmental interactions they could.)

OK, using a vessel with no pressure relief for heating and pressurizing water is just Darwinism in action, and honestly part of me hopes it succeeds prior to you passing on those genes and behaviors. I would also argue that there are many things that would fail before the keg did making a metal beer keg explosion bordering on the impossible. Change my mind with cited OSHA reports.

A few years back in the US, there were... plastic kegs. Only one fatality, was during cleaning. There were lawsuits and there were other exploding kegs.

I have a half-barrel keg in my shed that we use for potable water when camping. It has no safety pressure relief system. It has a fitting you screw a tap onto, with a big ball and spring valve at the top. The tap itself has a pressure valve, yes, but the keg does not. We have, at times, set it on a propane burner (the one that came with our turkey fryer/seafood boiler) and used it to create warm pressurized water for a shower. So no, if the keg is merely stored and not actively tapped, it can absolutely explode. Horrendously unlikely, but possible.

I started to write something in agreement, then I realized.... AI robots. Orbiting science station with holographic concierge. Fay's delicious bottom. All things that are impossible in our world... so now I'm thinking that they have super flimsy beer kegs that explode with the slightest provocation.

For any one keg, absolutely. For all of the kegs at a particular bar, probably. For all the kegs in Massachusetts, maybe. For all of the kegs in the US, this year... I'm not feeling that lucky. For all the kegs in the world over the lifetime of Questionable Content, I'd bet there's been some explosions. I hope nobody was hurt. (I think the chances are good for any one keg explosion for nobody to be around, so nobody hurt.)

This (the exploding keg) is soooo unlikely to happen that it borders on the impossible (assuming it's not tossed into a fire). The CO2 regulator on the tank would have to fail (and they usually fail closed). There are multiple seals that will likely fail before the keg does, the plastic hose of the gas feed and finally there's an OP relief valve at the keg. I'm not saying it couldn't, but there's a lot to go wrong to make it happen. OTOH Brun does seem to be the nexus of catastrophe.
