The fact that there are a bunch of Borg style charging cubicles in the basement... makes me think there's a huge robot underclass. Do these robots roam the Cyberverse while charging, a la _Snow Crash_ or _Neuromancer_? Because I'd like to think that's a thing... that they can just plug in and wander the net, so they don't have to simply stare at the laundry machines all night...

I don't recall any word of god on this, but it feels to me like AIs that just rent charging pods are an odd mix of poor (but not homeless - the charging pod counts as a home.) and minimalists who are probably fairly well off. AIs that rent apartments or serve as companions are living the dream.

maybe it's less of a "neck seem" and more of a "muscle/tendon" wrinkle, with certain motions causing the bunching up of her skin in that area and the flat drawing style not clearly delineating the difference. Spookybot seems to advanced to be together with clearly visible head/arm/leg seams

I don't think Jeph has put any specifics up (yet) but Yay mentioned they were renting the pod - so presumably it's an option for AIs that is either cheaper or simply more convenient for those not hoping to entertain guests. I guess companion AIs usually live with their companion, as seen with Momo, Pintsitze and Winslow. Everyone else has to find their own charging opportunities (As seen with Bubbles, May, Roko and Melon (and Melons buddy who's name escapes me right now)) As for homelessness in AIs, I'm curious myself. Looking at Mays shitty treatment, it's very possible that there are homeless AIs on the daily search for a charger station, though I guess they might be able to abandon their body if things get too rough? Lots of interesting material here

Has Jeph put any writings anywhere that covers the societal changes of QC's world? Like the AI charging basement, are these AI sort've homeless and just pop in for a nightly charge? Are AI's like Roko and Melon average or unusual because they rent accommodation?
