Interesting is that Roko is self aware of the incongruity of an AI/robot having an apartment. Around the time she got her new body, she questioned why she had and wanted a kitchen that she knew she'd never use. I wonder if there are fragments of human "code" in the AI's that draw some to various human mannerisms and traits. Even Bub's internalized "Squee" moment when she thought about Clinton and Eliot seems a too "human" response.

One of the realistic aspects of this strip that I really appreciate is the way in which characters can "other" people inappropriately without any ill will at all. Clinton's overexcitement about AI's, and Faye's SIL's academic objectivity, don't come from any kind of disgust or hate, but they can still make AI people seem like things to be admired or studied, rather than people to be respected.

I cannot WAIT for Yay & Clinton to meet. I think he might figure out pretty quickly the deal w/ them like no one else has, even to a degree Jeph hasn't revealed to the readers. WILL HE BE EXCITED OR TERRIFIED OMG I had no idea Yay lived (or one body does, at least) in Elliot's building. Anyone have a link to that comic?

Or Clinton is just used to using "them" ambiguously, since you really can use it for anyone. I'll use a specific pronoun if I'm intimately acquainted with someone, but most of the time I just use "they". And once in a while, it actually works out well. Not long ago, I met someone who appeared and acted female in every possible way, but I happened to overhear them mention to one of their coworkers that they were non-binary, and they preferred to use "they", which I had been using for them all along.

Yeah, Elliot does not know that Yay has multiple bodies, actually has a number of those bodies living in an apartment already (and owns dogs), and just has that body live in the charging pod so it’s close to Roko.... And so it can visit Hercules.
