As I commented before, this arc resonates with me personally. I'll turn 64 next month, and I've spent the last decade fighting how my body has been falling apart. I'm 2" shorter than I used to be, due to the discs in my back collapsing, to the point where I can't walk barefoot because my heel hitting the floor causes sciatic and spine pain. But the work has paid off. I took up strength training and triathlon (and now even coach!). I gradually and gently kept increasing my activity as I gradually and gently lost weight (and became a decent cook). A week ago I greatly overused my back, and somehow recovered in a day. A decade ago that level of overuse would have had me in bed and missing work for 4-7 days, and relying on opioids in order to get any sleep for the first couple nights. This time? No drugs at all, not even ibuprofen. I took one day of careful stretching, relaxing and, perhaps, a little self-indulgence. And the next day had a full regular workout, with 90% of my regular results. May stepped from her old, broken body into a new one in moments. It took me a decade. I feel such joy being on this side of the transformation. Good comic!

I was under the impression that happens a certain amount to most people in retail. It's just that some people get it a lot more than others, and some people see it very differently than others, Like, I've witnessed someone in retail I had thought was entirely unappealing get hit on. She acted as if he'd been ridiculing her for her appearance. I didn't really know either of them, but I saw him later at the store, looking at her wistfully from behind a clothing rack in the next department over. I don't know that necessarily *everybody* in retail gets it, but I feel confident that she wasn't the only one who got it without realizing it.

I reckon May will have her own very different issues. For Roko everyone who knew her saw her as the same person but she didn't. People will respond differently to May now even though she will feel she's still herself. I think Jeph has telegraphed a little of Marigold's coming difficulties with May as a drop-dead gorgeous hottie instead of a street urchin. Momo's going to have her hands full refereeing that.

Kind of wondering what direction this arc will go. May is in a new body largely because of Roko's effort. My guess is that May won't suffer any of the body dysmorphia that Roko did. May went from a failing body she hated to an ideal body of her choosing. Roko was walking down the street one minute and woke up in a new body the next. Very different paths. Wondering how all that will affect their relationship, and what the arc ultimately will be. Also, holy synthetic titties batman!

I love how Lemon is trying to help her adjust mentally, but the fact is that May hated the issues with her old body, which was something which was forced on her, so, weird though the new body may be, it’s something she chose, something she has control over, so she probably feels a lot more more comfortable in this skin than her old.
