I think this is one of those cases in which characters are people and don’t necessarily do things in the best way possible. The final panel is a clear call back to Marten’s encouragement—which helped Faye make (what she considers) perhaps the best decision in her life. It makes complete sense character-wise for Faye to say that here. Also, the challenges in coming out can vary a ton between people. When I realized I might be into guys in a D/s context, I was mostly excited. Went on Feeld, scheduled a few coffee dates, followed by some play dates, and enjoyed myself. Between his having a trans sister and a chill ass mom, Clinton being mildly uncomfortable around being bi but not having an existential crisis makes a ton of sense to me.

This is a sweet scene, and in some ways demonstrates Faye's personal growth, but it also diminishes the challenges that people can face in overcoming their fears, anxieties, and in adapting to learning new things about themselves that might be scary. Faye herself knows that just telling someone "don't be scared" doesn't necessarily remove their fears. People may need time to sort through feelings or adjust to new realities, or may need help to overcome past patterns or trauma. Perhaps Clinton really does just need to be told "don't be scared! Go for it!" But learning something new about one's sexuality usually takes time to sink in, and there's nothing wrong with that. I appreciate the kindness in this exchange, but also feels like it waves away the hard work and huge challenges that people sometimes have to go through when they come out to themselves and/or when overcoming anxiety related to romantic relationships generally.
