The chemical imbalance causes neural signals to not fire in the proper way. The underlying cause would be different in AIs (unless their processing medium is weirder than has been indicated), but I could see how similar symptoms could manifest with artificial neurons.

If he doesn't have a name, that would certainly be a contributing factor to his depression. On a serious note, is it possible that an AI could lack a human-word name while interacting with humans. I can see certain systems and mainframes housing AIs having only their original designator string if they have no human contact, but even there it would require several degrees of separation to filter the human idiosyncrasies from the AIs they talk to.

I am not going to lie, I am a licensed therapist who deals with these kinds of issues (for people!) on the daily and I am FASCINATED to know how it would translate to AI's... I mean, emotions are a physical sensation for humans. Would it be the same for a robot/AI? Or how about a disembodied AI? You can chase down meanings from a person's subconscious mind. Do AI's operate the same way? Or is it more readily apparent and accessible? I would pay good money to get to monkey around with this guy and see what worked and what didn't.
