Cool Tat on the customer! 8D

Miyaa

@KCkittysnores • The best example was when my university library had its ground floor space renovated to add their version of Starbucks, and they actually cited wanting to boost the number of people who use the library on a daily basis. I grew up near Kansas City and many of the local town & city libraries added a coffee shop or cafe for added revenue. I’m glad the Linda Hall Library, a science and engineering library on the University of Missouri-Kansas City campus never has to do that. Though it’s a really classy place to sit and chill.

KCkittysnores

Wait, really? Where are they doing that?

Daryl Sawyer

Is it just me, or is her "interview clothes" style kind of similar to Angus?

Some Ed

I'm pretty sure they have one piece of good advice that's almost always applicable. "Don't come to us for good advice." ;) Actually, there's quite a bit of good advice these characters have given over the years. But from their track record, we know - It's unwise to ask them for it while they're on the clock. - If you don't heed the prior bullet, don't be too surprised if it comes wrapped in packaging you're not inclined to swallow.

Cas Wanden

I think it says affogato

Boris Pelakh

I can't read that one (I would assume it's something like a Frappuccino), but I am amused by the 'Advice' and 'Good Advice' items on the board - what are the odds that 'Good Advice' can be obtained at CoD?

David Durant

What's the item on the chalkboard that just has "NO" written next to it?

Tim Williams

I have just noticed that QC world is becoming 3-D

R. Francis Smith

I'm sure there are people out there using their specific educations in their specific careers, I just don't seem to know any of them, including myself

TV4Fun

Sad to think how much the vibe of Coffee of Doom has changed since we used to hang out there.

Matt Pedone

If my town added a coffee shop to the library, I would love my library even more, which I didn't think was possible.

Evgeniy Semyonov

I bet it's dried salt from the tears of all the customers Faye served when she worked there. Dora has enough of them for a couple decades still.

Miyaa

The number of libraries I know who have to add a coffee shop just to bring in people is fairly high.

Mad Marie

I’m beginning to think that there is no coffee in that cup…the contents are 100% sugar moths.

Suspenders would be dope

Chris Crowther

I am reminded of the food joint advert that asked for people with humanities degrees because if they all had to work at a food joint it would be nice to at least have something to talk about.

Joshua Bushman

I thought the same!

Joshua Bushman

I thought Claire's outfit here had suspenders and was extremely disappointed to realize it was just a purse strap.

Some Ed

I've been to a library where, judging by the smell and the number of coffee mugs on the librarian side of the counter, having 'barista' on ones resume could probably help one get a job. Just sayin, so you know. (It's in the state of Massachusetts, but not in Northampton. But there could be one in Northampton, too.)

Some Ed

That's a funny way to spell "repressing".

PixelThis

One Cafe Mothra please!

Peter Lewerin

Oh you will get a reply, one day when you least expect it

Fart Captor

Oops I'm in love with Unnamed Purple Haired Customer 😔

Bagge

"But what if I am so anxious I ruin it! Now I'm anxious about that!"

Thomas A. Dennis

Grace Kieser

Oh! That's her purse! I thought she was wearing suspenders. Thin suspenders with that top would look pretty great!

Mad Marie

The sugary coffee is for her tattoo artist who works out of the robot repair shop down the street.

Mad Marie

I see what you did there, Holmes.

William Cole

It was full when Dora started pouring!

Carl Fink

For some reason, I'm convinced Jeph knows that purple-haired customer in real life.

Carl Fink

Nope. If he follows form, Jeph will reveal it bit by bit over this week.

Adam Abbott

What kind of monster let's the sugar get that low?

Alex Borders

"Is that sugar? Salt? Cocaine?" Am I the only one that tried to read the menu board?

Hugh Eckert

The seven percent soy latte.

Yelling Bird

I OFFERED HER A JOB! I'M STILL WAITING FOR A REPLY!

VoxOrbisBrad

I love that Claire still finds worries no matter what!

I know, right! Draw that transparent glass! Go Jeph!

Errol Lobo

Got any openings, lol? My wife has an MLIS and has been following Claire's trajectory since before the pandemic.

Aha, Dora's pouring on the sugar! Clever Jeph, very clever

Levi

That anticipatory tongue in panel three is so cute lol

Rob McBobson

I like the angle in panel 2. Interesting visuals.

I appreciate this callback

Tamara Macadam

oh glorious

Mad Marie

The spiders have taken over the grinder and moths is their featured grind of the month.

Darcy Conaty

I had a job interview like that once. I kept telling them why they didn't want to hire me and they kept telling me why they did. (They did, it worked out fine.)

Miranda E. O. Wilde

Super cute!

drone r0m-3

No Jeph, the cocaine was added in liquid form. That's just sugar.

Sleepy John

She has the jitters and she hasn't even touched the coffee yet.

Paul Higdon

I am an academic library director, and I have had this conversation eleventy-pepsi times.

Anhydrous caffeine, maybe?

Michael Boettger

Claire dear, you'll be fine. Why? If Hanners can master the art of baristatry, you can. Dora and you *could* compare notes. Most humans take detours on their career paths. And who's to say librarians wouldn't enjoy a bit of high octane Joe to move things along? Holster your fears and doubt. And while your at it, could I get a large latte, extra shot, easy on the whip, please?

My guess was gonna be MSG

Shawn K. Younkin

Make sure you get Claire to sign a non-disclosure agreement before you reveal to her the secret ingredient to spider-coffee... (hint: IT'S SPIDERS)!!

J.R. Murdock

Now I want a scribble tattoo.

R L

You joke but that could literally become a menu item: 50$ for a latte, 4 refills, snide and tutoring.

Ashley Thomas

if it was cocaine she would be charging a lot more

Simon Green

She saw all this coming and flew the coop.

Dean Reilly

Claire, all in her job interview outfit. 😁

Simon Green

Our old favourite coffee shop served almond croissants with a syringe full of brown stuff sticking out of the side. I can only assume it was heroin because IT WAS SO DELICIOUS. The, ah, brown stuff that is. Not the syringe. The syringe just tasted like plastic and was not very enjoyable at all.

BobC

Mocha Loco?

Noise

Claire, Claire, Claire... You're worrying about those things, while you're completely forgetting the fact that your brother is a regular customer. Think of the opportunities. "GACK!" "THAT WAS FOR CHRISTMAS DAY, WHEN WE WERE NINE!"

What happened to raven? (And Penelope for that matter?) 🤔

Will Weaver

I don’t know why but Claire looks extra cute here. I think it’s the shirt.

MikeT

If it were cocaine, the coffee would be served with a suspiciously creditcard-looking biscuit...

cakecake

Gawd I missed Dora. I love her so much. I hope this upcoming arc has some fun Dora/Coffee of Doom moments :)

Elberik

Covid shortages. They had to switch to moths.

Max Kaehn

Time to invent the new job of KNOWLEDGE BARISTA, providing academic references with your caffeinated beverage

Elberik

This is still hitting way too close to home for me

Captain Button

Claire will become as skillful and dedicated barista as soon as she completes THE RITUAL.

Max D S

Jeph, what about the spiders?
