Perhaps Yay has feigned ignorance about Cosmo. They already knew where their old dog was but perhaps is merely 'allowing' the dog to have a new caretaker. From what we know, one of their core values is that they value personal choice and agency so this might extend to animals as well. They already know Cosmo is happy where she is and just wanted a way to visit their old dog.

I've known a couple of people in real life whose position was that because they were intelligent (and they were, they're smart people) they are therefore right, and that if it looks like they're doing the wrong thing then whoever doesn't like just doesn't understand the situation like they do. Without exception, those people left a trail of damage, hurt, and scorched friendships in their wake.

Sooo Cosmo is a rare dog breed and a stray, Yay loves dogs and is familiar with the breed.... are they the original care taker? Its not like them to do something that's so on the radar. Showing up to a strangers house at 2am is something you get the cops called on you for. Not exactly as clandestine and incognito as their usual shtick. I might be over thinking it but I thinks they might be excited to find their lost dog. I wonder, can it be described as character growth or character devolvement? Or character jump-to-the-side? On one hand, it seems that Yay was more empathetic and understanding of other's feelings, on the other hand we never saw them that emotional earlier (meeting Hercules doesn't count). Can an AI be powerful enough to truly understand that omnipotence and omniscience doesn't excuse being an asshole?

Nothing to do with this specific comic, but ... while thinking about the Rastafarians today (no, really) I noticed that one plausible meaning of "Yay" is the Name of God. Seriously, in Hebrew He's "yod he vau he", and originally we don't know what vowels were used. (Hebrew didn't start out with any vowel markers.) YHWH could plausibly be pronounced "Yay". I actually have to wonder if that was in Jeph's head.
