Explaining a TENS unit is relatively easy if you know anyone with bad cramps or chronic pain. Lots of people do use them for the actual on-label purpose!

Based on knowing exactly one dom with more than state level recognition, I'm guessing that she probably had in excess of one suitcase with shoes in it. The smaller of the two just had shoes. The larger had a false bottom, shoes, and a few toys that didn't fit under the false bottom. Thanks to the false bottom, she doesn't have to explain what a TENS unit is... The hope that Sam was going after the one with just shoes was based on the carry on bag being much smaller (since it needs to fit in the overhead compartment) and the one with just shoes was small enough someone could possibly think it might fit in an overhead compartment. Unfortunately, Veronica forgot that Sam doesn't have the travel experience she has, so doesn't really understand what 'carry on' really means. Therefore, Sam went for the largest and seemingly most helpful suitcase.
