That sounds great in theory, but that's not how employer/employee relationships actually work. If it's two equals, then it's a business partnership. An employer/employee relationship has a superior (the employer) and a subordinate (the employee). When an employee tries to overstep their position, that is called insubordination, and just about every employer will fire an employee if it goes on long enough. A good employer has an open door and takes suggestion and criticism well from their subordinates (as long as it's presented with respect to the employer's position), but at the end of the day, the employer is still the boss, and the employee still has to do what they're told.

There's this funny feeling among some employers that they can make the rules and employees don't have an option, as if we're in some sort of feudal or caste system. We aren't. An employee-employer relationship is theoretically of two equals entering into a contractual relationship.

The problem is a generation of children who were allowed to tell their parents what to do, and they've become adults who think they can tell their employers what to do. So no, I'm not part of the problem. I didn't let my children run the house, and I don't let my employees dictate company policies and procedures.
