Lina for confirmation that all is fine here. They just seemed to be defying physics however, we are in CubeTown so maybe there's a gravitational effect we've not been introduced to yet :)

Yeah, adult adoption is a thing. Ostensibly, I think it’s for inheritance/tax purposes, but mostly it’s used to legally reify existing familial relationships. Like, shitty bio-parent wouldn’t relinquish their parental rights while the kid was a minor, so step-parent who actually stepped up finally gets to adopt them as an 18yo. Or (much sadder) step-parent adoption was forced through while kid was still mourning deceased bio-parent, other relative then adopts adult kid with the express intent to un-adopt them and restore the original birth certificate with bio-parent’s name.

As someone who got to experience the whole "Gifted Child Syndrome" thing firsthand, I think most of us need(ed) something like that. The burnout and subsequent crash are brutal and it tends to happen when you get into your first real job after university/college, sometimes even before or during higher education as well.

Claire Must Set Limits. She cannot be the mom of Cubetown, nor Marten the dad. It’s an impossible (and dysfunctional ) job. I dare say this situation will go a long way to teaching them that.
