It's likely that The Director and Station are aware of Yay's existence, but it remains to be seen just exactly how current or aware Moray is of The Director's knowledge. It appears that the Moray units are 'purpose built' with (nearly) just enough faculties to fit the purpose of a more effective communicator than they themselves seems to be.

I like the art parallel. Panel 2, Liz is behind and holding onto Bubbles, her emotional support bodyguard, a person whose former job was controlled violence (soldier). Panel 4, Yay is behind and holding onto Roko, their emotional support bodyguard, a person whose former job was controlled violence (cop). (Look at their right arm, it's clearly around Roko's waist.)
