I had not heard of cicada killers before. But looking at pictures, I've probably seen them (and probably freaked out).

A few years ago while on my lunch break a cicada killer (for those blissfully unaware they're huge and look like the hornets that hornets have nightmares about) landed directly on one of my friend's boobs. Somehow she didn't notice immediately but the thing is too big to ignore for long and she's utterly terrified of even normal bees. While I was trying to figure out how to get it off without being fired before she panicked and ran into traffic she looked down and, unsurprisingly, lost it. Fortunately she ran mostly in circles and hit a building before she made it to a road. The bug flew off during her panic attack because they're basically harmless unless you're a cicada.
