Your reaction and Lexi's, regarding seeing Darla's belly, were completely different. You knew that Darla was going to turn up pregnant, although you didn't think that she would be that far along. Lexi had no idea, although she did assume that Angel was the father. The question for her was how was it possible.

Since Buffy had left the WB at the end of season 5 the network asked that Angel not mention or talk too much about a show no longer on their network. But Joss and David felt Angel would have to address it in some way. He couldn’t not. So while we got an ep when he talked about it, it wasn’t as much of the grief and cross over you’d think.
