The last vamps chapter involved a conversation between the count heads about how to deal with the demons. Currently, the eastern part of the continent is ruled by the Olympian gods. They also fully allow and endorse slavery, which is there slave army. At this moment, they are at war with the Aesir and the Jarls.

OK, so I am a bit lost. Was there a lead-up to the battle with the vamps that I missed? The slave army I sort of remember them fighting the other hero. They killed his wife or maybe she was his girlfriend still. Why they killed her, I don't remember.
