since you were vulnerable and honest about your family situation, ill be honest with mine too. my parents were never married but lived in the same house with me and my older brother. our house was one story with my parents bedroom in the basement. they were always arguing and would do it in the kitchen just down the hall from my bedroom. as a kid, hearing your parents, especially my mom, yelling and crying for hours was not fun at all and they would also sometimes get into physical altercations or my dad would just break things. being a kid, all I could do was close my door, lay in my bed and put my headphones as loud as they could until it was over. this happened for as long as I could remember since I was like 5-6 years old. they no longer live together as of almost 7 years ago but even now at almost 19, hearing loud bangs or people getting angry or starting to aggressively yell with ill intent fills me with so much anxiety. so I understand and sympathize with you Nigel, love you! <3
