I totally get what you're saying. i finally got the courage to drop out of my university course this week. it was something I was doing to please my family because they had this goal already planned out for me but I never really liked it. the pressure made it even worse cause my family loved to remind me that if I succeeded I would be the first black lawyer in my country, but it felt like I was doing it for others or to show off and not really for myself, so I finally found it in myself to do what I wanted to do.

Your sister went to UNC-CH? I live like 20 minutes away from there, my grandfather was... idek, somebody important there when I was growing up. I definitely didn't go there because I also struggled academically, but I've learned to value my contributions despite the fact academics are not at all my thing. I hope you do too. You really brighten my day and when I see you've posted a video I know I'll be in a good mood by the end of it, no matter what's going on in my life. Awww love this video! I COMPLETELY get it about how you just have to keep going. I'm the artist in my family and a lot of people around me just couldn't see a career path for me. I couldn't see it for myself. I left for college and did AWFUL. Wasted money, went through bad depression months, worked 50+ hour weeks to keep myself busy. I still loved art, so for years I kept taking classes to try and keep going towards my bachelors. At 27 years old I finally managed to graduate! And then I also had a risk fall into my lap. A 3 month unpaid internship where I would have to commute 5 days a week while working part time on the weekends in a kitchen. I would cry on my breaks...barely ate dinner cause I was so tired everyday. Had no type of love life LMAO. But I'm 33 now and I'm still working at that place that gave me an internship. And I LOVE it. I work from home, I make a surprisingly great salary, and everyone I work with is amazing. The only sad part is my biggest supporter through my journey passed 2 years ago. My mother. Please keep in contact with your parents!! Never forget the little steps they gifted you to help you rise higher!! My plan was animation and to work for Disney or Dreamworks. Now I'm a graphic designer for a company that deals in international affairs. NEVER would have picked this or imagined it when I was 20. But I'm glad I didn't stop. Thank YOU Nigel for doing Youtube!!! I'm a stay, and I'm so glad I have the opportunity to enjoy your content.
