No you are exactly right! I was on a stay voting team at the time and people would give me their accounts to vote on. You had to spread your votes out evenly with the other teams and that's kind of why Ateez was so low. Atinys and Stays had major beef at the time, so their staegy excluded skz on purpose. That meant that they voted for the other groups more and lowered Ateez's ranking. I don't care for Ateez musically, but their fans were their downfall this round.

I just recently subscribed to this patreon bc I wanted to see your thoughts on kingdom and I wanted to give some context on the voting bc I was there to watch. The voting was a three-way. So you HAD to vote for two other groups on top of the group you think did the best. The reason why a lot of groups ranked lower than you think they should’ve and some groups ranked higher were because some of the bigger fandoms teamed up to vote for their group and two others to block the groups they thought would be a threat. Some of these teams are very popular globally and others not so much, while some are VERY popular in South Korea and others not so much, so context as to why it was indeed rigged and not a good time for ANY fandom (some worse than others unfortunately) is important

Ngl when I watched this for the first time I was disappointed with how little screen time Hyunjin had. Now I don't know if it was a personal choice because I know he left right after the first episode because of personal reasons (I don't know enough to know the exact reason) so it could have just been him not wanting to be shown much or it was someone elses choice. It was just disappointing. Out of the 6 groups they already didn't show Stray Kids much and when they did show Stray kids Hyunjin was only shown maybe 5 times

So, as a note… there was some slight controversy in the first couple episodes of kingdom where Mnet didn’t communicate stage budgets to the three groups that signed up later (ikon, SF9, and Btob) so their intro stages were slightly underwhelming. It definitely gets better. And this show is best approached with the idea of whose line is it anyways. Let’s just watch the performances and the points don’t matter. 🤣

Starting with the hosts: TVXQ: Changmin & Yunho (They are kpop idols of 18yrs at that time) 2. BTOB (Oldest Kpop group in Kingdom..also 2 of their members were in military at the time) Also called the Vocal Kings beside other kpop group EXO.. 3. SF9 - Even tho their are idols but also actors currently one member left to continye to pursue his acting career. 4. iKon - at the the time were under the YG label if u remember in skz survival show where skz had to battle YG trainess. Also u will notice their vibe is mostly having fun..they are like if they win they win they win but lets have fun ...to me thats the vibe i got 5. The Boyz - The Boyz won a prior simular show called Road To Kingdom and that is why they are here in Kingdom 6. Stray Kids - You already know but letting you know Hyunjin was only able to perform in the first episode before he had to go to hiatus. 6. Ateez - they are the youngest group out of the .also they had one member that was not part in Kingdom due to health reasons. Also SKZ & Ateez are besties... So some of these groups didnt have all their members to participate...Hope this helps somewhat.. Also o e more thing before each performance u will see the rehearsal...so u will the mistakes...before the actual performance... I swear u had me lmao after midnight with the ads also...

The first time I watched Kingdom I was disappointed with almost everyone of the intro stages...but upon reflection I realized that this was a bit unique for each of the groups. They had Queendom and Road to Kingdom to reference, but I don't think some of the Groups came in with total understanding as to how it was actually going to work. You'll see in future episodes that groups like iKON, B2B, and SF9 will adjust their thinking to be more grandiose to match the other groups. I just don't think that they understood the assignment right off the bat. Also, you will get upset with the scoring...it is all over the place...I don't think we get the final score for the first round until episode 5 I think? So if a group that you think should be higher but is in 5th or 6th place, they could go up to 3rd or 4th. I tend to skip this part as it doesn't really matter until the end and can be frustrating. Starting now, each episode will really focus on only 3 groups at a time (there is a one off episode that's a fun watch though) Also, with the groups voting...they can not vote for themselves, this isn't really explained but in a future episode one of the groups in 6th place won't receive a single vote from any of the other teams so...😒 As someone else already commented, there are no eliminations, so that's a plus! The link you found does have decent subs, but one of the main missing parts is where they identify who the person is that is speaking. Viki has good subs and you can get 1080p. Few non-spoiler things...most of the groups are on friendly terms. The Boyz and Stray Kids and Ateez have interacted before...(Changbin and WooYoung from Ateez are besties) and Peniel from B2B as well. You know that Hyunjin is out after this episode, but there are several people that are missing. B2B had members serving in the military at this time and one ends up missing a few episodes (I think he got COVID), Mingi from Ateez was also on hiatus, some of the guys from SF9 will float in and out due to other commitments (a lot of them are actors), one of the Boyz will get hurt and one of the hosts will leave due to a scandal (he was caught going to a club during COVID) and the kicker...they don't really address any of it. Fun facts: Ateez and one of the other groups (can't remember right now) have comebacks happening at this time too and 2 of the members from SF9 and 3 members from Ateez are filming the Idol Drama "Imitation". - If you have/get Viki, I highly recommend watching, its really good. So they are all really busy it's a wonder that we get the performances that we do out of them. Sorry for the long post. Just some interesting info.😁
