I'm so thankful that you do this for us, Nigel. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings about this music and the amazing people who make it. It's really validating that you see and feel a lot of the same things I do (I'm sure there are other Stays and Army and such who would agree!), and sometimes you have insights that I hadn't thought of before. Plus, you're really funny and kind! This is one of my favorite songs in the entire world, of all time. I already loved Changbin, but this song made me realize how incredible he is not only as an artist and entertainer, but as a person. It takes real self awareness, maturity, and vulnerability to acknowledge one's feelings this deeply, and such bravery to talk about those feelings with anyone, let alone the whole world. I've tried to be that streetlight through many periods of my life, lighting up the darkness for others when I, myself, was struggling. It's not easy. I cannot even comprehend the incredible strength and courage Changbin has to be able to be a streetlight for ALL OF US. The JUTDAE! Immense love and respect for him; he is a truly good soul.

idk if this is just an Australian thing but their are some dead trees painted blue to raise awareness of mental health and and the stigma behind it, "its okay to not be okay", (there is one across the street from my house) so I'd like to think Channie may have got the tree idea from Australia and brought it up to Binnie for the MV <33 At the end where the paint started dripping on his hand it could symbolise that he is like the dead tree covered in bright paint... :(

I Love every member because they are all unique but changbinnie always was my fav because he's so underrated. He says in one of the episodes he always smiles to keep all the members happy but he hates to be alone. I seen someone else say it but the blue tree project started in Australia and it's about mental health and talking about it and not bottling up emotions. Nigel I'm newish to you. Hi Nigel, whilst not confirmed, i believe the blue tree is a reference to something called the blue tree project started in Australia where trees were painted blue across the world. The Blue Tree Project was founded with a mission to help start difficult conversations and encourage people to speak up when experiencing mental health concerns. The blue trees serve as a reminder about the importance of speaking about mental health as well as a way to start conversations about mental health instead of concealing the issues. The Blue Tree Project is an Aussie project to get rid of the stigma around mental health. The project goal is to open up conversations about mental health to start healing. Binnie wrote this when he was having a really tough time and didn't feel like he could tell anyone about it because he's always trying to be the one others lean on. He said by writing and putting out this song it relieved some of his pain.

From what I know Changbin said about this song that it’s a song in which he used the lyrics to compare a person who suffers emotional pain and sorrow on his own without telling anyone, who smiles and pretends like things are okay, to a streetlight. If you ask someone for advice about their problems, even if that person can’t resolve everything for you, just opening up about your feelings makes your heart rest a little easier and that before he wrote this song, there was a time when he was also really struggling on his own and wasn’t able to tell anyone. But by writing those feelings into his lyrics and recording this song, he felt like he had shared them with someone, which gave him a sense of relief and he hopes that the people who listen to this song will also find someone who will listen to what they have to say and empathize with their pain.
