Even though Hyunjin's story sounds a bit weird, there are cults in South Korea and recruiters that walk around and ask you if you're having a hard time or if you need help. I personally haven't been in South Korea, but someone I know researched cults and found out that there are a lot of recruiters on the street that do sessions with you, just to ask for money later on. So yeah, it sounds crazy but it's really possible.
