I think I remade this entire rooftop scene over 15 times counting going through 7 different scripts for that particular part and redoing this page 3 times once I ultimately settled on it going this way 😩🙏🤣 But it's finally what I wanted it to feel and it's staying true to my original vision, which is the best part! 💖
Few days ago I had a change of heart... As the previous idea was the conversation to go about them hanging out together, watching movies, it wasn't quite conveying the mood I was going for. So few days ago, I had a nightmare in which I was trying to protect my husband from some horrifying black fog that descended from the ceiling down towards us. I was so terrified, I was squinting my eyes, taking a stance in front of him, idk what was I expecting... trying to Kamehameha the darkness or something?? (I DIDN'T HAVE A PLAN) and shortly after I felt his arms around me, hugging me and I heard him say repeatedly "It's okay". Apparently I was shuffling in bed and breathing so hard I had woken him up and he was hugging me to make me feel better 🥺💕 and the moment before I woke up/opened my eyes, I was so sure he wouldn't have been afraid to look away from whatever horror we were facing, I thought "if he says it's okay, then it must be!"... I thought about this nightmare all day and how I was trying to save him, then he ended up saving me from the nightmare..... And similarly, I was having a conversation about certain Dorohedoro moments which made me go through parts of the manga, and that's when it hit me: Nikaido had always dreamt to have her restaurant and she invited Kaiman to work for her, because she needed him more than anything 🥺 They both saved each other and despite all the bizarre things they faced... Their wishes came true. I felt that to be something solid to set up the mood for the kiss and a good opportunity to see Nikaido getting shy opening up to him just like in the onsen moment in the manga 💖
