I have been considering the vr version, but I don't think I use vr enough to get everything set up and spend 5 mins looking at the cats like you said so I will take in consideration your review haha would've been great that they expanded the game for vr

i like neko atsume i will now rant about how much of a disappointment neko atsume vr (Purrfect Kitty Collector) is, it's way too faithful to the mobile app and when i bought it on launch the game wasn't even finished it just has random features saying "wip, come back later". the vr interactions with cats is nonexitent, you basically get to pick them up and thats literally it (and somehow they made the controls super janky) (and you get to jiggle a toy thing that the cat 90% of the time doesnt even react to) plus i can't freely move in my room (and the room is tinyy) and the game does nothing to expand it for the vr version to its detriment (also im not going to constantly ckeck on on the vr version like a phone because its a heave headset i have to consciously put on that gameplay loop doesnt work for vr without changing it)
