My first self ports
🕑 Added 2024-11-07 22:33:05 +0000 UTCI'm just about done moving and unpacking! It's been such a hectic last couple of weeks. As I'm settling in to my new place and feeling ready to pick my cameras back up and create, I'm also going back through old work. I wanted to share these- I had taken a few self portraits up to this point, but this is really where it all started for me. This was the first self portrait set that I took in that space- the space that would be my home for 4 long years. It was the first time that I attempted to work through and process some really tough emotions through creating and making art. The first time that I had photographed myself in pain, and the first time that I felt like I could heal through my vulnerability. I had almost no technical skills, and really didn't know what I was doing as far as lighting or focus. My Pentax K1000 doesn't have a self timer, so I was using a shutter release cable and stepping on the pump with my foot. It's crazy to me to look back at these and see how far I've grown not only as a woman, a human, but also as an artist.
I look back at these so fondly as the beginning of my journey, and am filled with gratitude all over again.
I'll be sharing some old work in the next couple of weeks while I'm settling in and creating new art to share with you all. Stay tuned. <3

Thank you friend! I think I was shooting Fuji back then so the greens really come through strong 😊

I know I say it a lot but these are incredible. For your first foray in artistic self portraits the emotion you captured is astonishing.

The colors in particular are fantastic!
