Warden

I've looked into it fairly frequently, but the main thing holding me back is the expense. I'll get around to it eventually, probably whenever I'm able to publish this story a little more formally.

is there any way that you could commission character art for the main characters

Warden

There are a few reasons that have been offered in previous chapters: they're going to the Nexus because the Nexus is closer than any of the old Clan's planes, and if they can establish themselves there, then they can gain access to the materials they'll need to expand out into the universe. As for Storm Herald, Jason Keraunos' ark, it's still inoperable. They needed a lot of Titanstone, Lumenite, and Aurichalcum to fix it, and they've only acquired the first two, and of Lumenite, they're still not able to make any of it, only salvage it from the Clan's old palaces. They need greater access to more advanced materials if they want to be competitive, and the best place to find those materials is in the Nexus. So, for the moment, they're building their more of their relatively weak Void-capable arks and attempting to establish a colony that'll supply needed materials for Aeterna-based industry. And that's not even touching on what may have become of the Thunderbird Clan's old planes - they have much greater intel on where they want to go in the Nexus than where might be valuable in the Clan's old holdings. The Nexus is more of a sure thing (though still not certain) whereas they're rolling a lot more dice with the more distant planes.

I think that one year timeline is far too optimistic. They are not going to be anywhere near ready, and it's crazy to me that they're going straight to the Nexus. It would make a lot more sense to take over one of the Thunderbird Clan's old planes, so they can get a little taste of what a war in the Nexus will look like. But mostly, it seems crazy to me that they didn't repair Jason's old flagship along with the other old behemoths that the leader of Heaven's Eye brought over. It's smart to not leave until you have your own ark industry, but just ignoring the proven craft of the old clan is crazy. Jason's flag ship, by itself, had a capacity of something like 5,000. It seems like that would be a useful vessel, and Leon would be confident in having a vessel that was proven to be monstrously powerful.
