#78 - How To Shred On A 7 String | Modern Metal Riffs & Licks Lesson
🕑 Added 2020-04-23 13:00:04 +0000 UTCWelcome to this week's first lesson, another one is coming tomorrow! This topic has been requested very often, we check out some interesting 7 string approaches (how to visualize your scales, arpeggios and more and how to write creatively) and I prepared a cool practical example :)
So if you own a 7 string or think about getting one, this lesson will be interesting! We will get back to 6 strings tomorrow, don't worry!

My schecter Damien 7 platinum just came in.. Excited to try this
Hi Bernth! I'm new here, glad to support you on Patreon! Could you upload also the original backing track at the normal speed? I feel like I mastered the solo and I'd like to play it full speed with all the other instruments :)

Just got a PRS Mark Holcomb SVN and looked this lesson up. Been working on it a bit and after years (decades) of 6 strings that extra string is still messing with my head....

Bernth you rock! I've learned so much from your teaching. I'm in both your 10 weeks courses and if you had a 7-string master course I would take that too!🤘

Fantastic lesson. I am a new 7 string owner and have had trouble incorporating the low B. Thank you for the lesson! Great material. Cheers from Texas.

Hey ! That was what I was looking for amazing BENTH ! In my case I have an 8 strings guitar which is an standard tune EBEADGBE 🤔 Cheers !
Unfortunately, my only 7-string guitar is tuned to B (B E A D G B E) so it does not sound as cool as in the video. I am practicing this, even in the wrong tuning, because it really push me with ways of playing that I am not used to, so it is challenging. I am having special problems with the last part of the second riff, but I hope that with enough practice I will manage :)

Thanks for the reply, that's awesome! Also thanks for the recommendation, I prefer lighter strings for sure so that's some great input :)

I actually have 3:) Two Ibanez, one iron label fanned fret and one modified RG, and one Strandberg Boden 8. I use them In a three piece band for extra tone range and for a metal project. I like them a lot. If you thinking of getting one I would go for a fanned fret to get a better tension on the lighter strings.

Happy you like this one Danny! :)

Great idea! I don't own an 8 string at the moment but that super-low rumble is tempting for sure :) Do you have an 8 string model? What do you think about these instruments?
Danny Batchelor
Thanks dude, I was looking forward to this lesson

Really like that you start to have 7 string lessons. Maybe even 8 string in the future?
