James Nelson

highway! level 4 _ gonna use it in my new phrygian dominant song

Bernd Brodträger

Thanks for asking! I like to work with just a slight bit of gain for these crunchy cleans, I think too much gain makes it difficult to get this kind of sound :) I also don't scoop the mids or make big moves with the knobs, I go for Kemper profiles or VSTs that have a good base sound and then tweak them just a bit :)

Fhynix

Highway level 4! Very helpful theory lesson :-) One question: How do you get such an open, transparent sound? When I try the same, my sound is much more muddy and I can't hear the upper strings as easily. Is this a techique issue (aka not strumming correctly) or should I tweak my sound for more transparency?

Edwin van Slingerlandt

I would use level 4 or 5 for verses and 6 for prechorus/chorusses

Gregg Sheridan

Highway level 4

jaz

but what about adding the 9ths to everything else ?

jaz

Highway 2 love the 9ths

John H

HIghway 3, Highway 4, and I love the Highway 5 positioning

Ben Cauble

Highway 5 for me...great lesson!

Emre Ozkose

Highway 4

Salomé Sequeira

Thank you! It does work for me for the most part, still struggling on the bigger frets but it has improved :)

Logan

Life is a highway, I did enjoy 5

Jimmy Grieve

Highway 3!

VersaLife

Highway 2-5

Adrian Nechiti

Highway 2 ! but yes al of them are interesting based on what is happening in the song or if you have a 2nd guitar player in the band is great to combine this variations. Very nice lesson!

Ludo

2 and 4 for me...

Steve Shaw

Bernth gave me a tip for the long pinky stretch, lift the neck higher. it does work for me.

eugenio sanchez

Highway 3. Root note is over rated for soloist, bas players usually do a great job of root note playing

danyecke

Highway 2 and 4. But I like all 5!

kevin Dumont

Highway 2 'and 4

Aldo Rodríguez

Highway 2, 3 & 4 😅😅

Jeffrey Calabrese

Highway 3-it’s expressive and heavy, Highway 4 its articulate and sonically crisp

Carlos Mendez

Man, I have Improved so much this month by doing your lessons. This lesson is something that I've been trying to work on for a while now and sounding terrible at...lol... you made this make so much more sense. Thanks Bernth! Hope you get to that million subs soon Dude! Highway 4-5

Christian Liliedahl

Highway. It sounds great, it could be a shred ballad collab.

Salomé Sequeira

Any tips for a person with extremely small pinky? I am really struggling with that extension.

Steve Shaw

Highway 3 thru 5, just all sound so great, just one question are these chord shapes still moveable up and down the fretboard, but using either the root, third, 5th etc. Thanks Bernth, your lessons never disappoint and always inspire me to be a better player

DarthWooPV

highway all of the above. G minor sounds wickedly cool!

John H

Highway 4 - highway 5

Lenix

Highway! 2 and 4! Great video and definitely helps me to break up the monotony of regular power chords. Thanks Bernth!

Pavel

Highway 3

Robert Duncan

Highway 4 and 5. Using the higher pitched chord voicings is nice for repeating a section/chorus but mixing it up a bit.

Brian Fox

I like the idea of Highway-2 (very Andy Somers-esque ;-) with a few Highway-3 chords tossed in for extra flavor. Thanks for the tips, Bernth.

Jeff Hirshberg

Highway 5. It lends itself to further complexities via a 2nd guitar and/or the bass.

Jon Hew

Highway 4 is my preference, Highway 5 is much easier to utilize

Jon Hew

Wow, Bernth you're coming up with new lessons and tips faster than I can refresh the page haha. Been caught up with work the past week or two and came back to see loads of new materials here. Way the go Bernth!!

Bjørn Visser

highway! Level 3,4 & 5 🎶😲😜

Michael Sax

Really depends what sound or mood you want to create in a certain song. I mostly prefer distinct rhythm and emphasism with the lead. So for that I‘d take highway 3. For a standalone melodic highway 5 would be the right choice of course 😉. Anyway: once again perfectly tought! And with a so important message in the middle of the video: 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Geoff Read

Highway 4 and 5 (both sound very similar to my ear)

Alistair B

Highway 😏. I liked level 3 and 4 best!

Vincenzo

the fourth and fifth so in sequence sound great. same performance of chords but great melodic effect

Arnaud Garni

Highway 2 & 4!

Ronald Gillespie

Highway! Level 2 is probably the one I'll get the most out of for right now but levels 3 through 5 are what I need to practice most.

Enrique Montano Jr

Highway 2 🤘🏻

Sylvain Bouchard

highway Level 4 as well

Krypterian

highway Level 4!

Chris H Brown

highway. I think level 4. I like 5, but it doesn't sound quite as interesting as 4.

Kearns Guitars

Highway level 5 please

Bernd Brodträger

😂🤘

Wilhelm Glomm

Highway - level 4 - although I guess it really depends on the overall mood you want to invoke

benj

highway! level 3, 4 & 5!!!!

Joseph Montuori

This lesson was just amazing! What a great approach to getting those wide complicated yet not complicated to play chord voicing. The only thing I do different is if I start my progression as minor I replace 1 with 6 so it's my 6th degree because I know my 7 is diminished and my 1,4,5 are major chords and my 2,3,6 are minor
