At the first deadline the tags are randomly handed out to the authors with no knowledge of who submitted them. They then have a few weeks to write the story. I was given "cum inflation" and "male pregnancy".
I've never really read much on these topics before. The closest was the Cecaelia story which was a rewrite of a tentacle porn male pregnancy story, but that setting was so fantasy that there wasn't much to go on. The stories I found and had time to read were all alternative universe where male pregnancy was a common thing. For my story I wanted it to be more real, something that would be a medical first. That's why I went with an orgy scenario, to have some basis for the "cum inflation" tag. Then that would carry over into a belly bump that just wouldn't go away, with the final reveal that he was pregnant.
I pretty much followed that roadmap. First iteration was a British town with an old inn with a pub, rugby away team having a celebration. The rugby team was Blackwood Rugby, the first guy was Rob, and the second guy he had the hots for was Harry. Then I realized I wanted the main character to live in Texas just to lock in the fate a bit. So over to Google maps and try to figure out where he was. I decided on some place in northern Oklahoma. The away team is from Woodward, but we don't know how long they traveled. As a side note, the roads there are freaky. Just a grid of straight north-south and east-west roads. I first though it was a grid in Google maps, not actual roads.
This is where I got another idea when looking at some web comic with Greek gods. What if Zeus, the eternal horn dog and source of most mythical beasts by just banging whatever he came across, would fuck a dude. That would give the male pregnancy, and it wouldn't be hard to add cum inflation. I was too deep into what I had already written that I put that aside and continued to Americanize the story. I'm now picturing a two-story concrete hotel structure with a small restaurant remodeled into a pub. Change the names of the teams and the people, remove "lads" and other out of place words. I keep the pub as a pub, and the scottish eggs. I want to have some eggs in an mpreg story.
The clocks starts racing towards the end of the story. I was considering a more realistic timeline for the pregnancy, something like 6-8 weeks before he is finally diagnosed as pregnant to have a proper heartbeat. But I also wanted the cum inflation and morning sickness to torment him, so it would be unreasonable for him to wait two months before going to the doctor. Someone who get to fly on business trips probably has at least that good medical coverage. I did consider having him constantly getting sore and building muscles, despite not doing the right things to warrant that, as physiological side effect of the pregnancy, but honestly I forgot I thought about that. And I had a deadline to meet.
No good photo to use really. Guys at doctor's office, people in pubs, and random rugby players. None of it really clicked.
