Bully Support

Generally I stay away as much as I can because this is where the jocks tend to spend most of their time, and the more time they spend away from me the less time they have to put me in lockers, throw my shoes into trees, steal my homework, and whatever else torment they can think of. This specific hallway was in the stadium, for the players, and I'd never been in that part of the building before.
I asked coach once where we were going, and he said it was going to be a surprise in that tone that gives no invite to further questions. I guess he is used to that, just having people do what he tells them to do. He just showed up in class and told Mr. Stewart that he needed me, and without any question Mr. Stewart just told me to ask a classmate for reading assignments and let me go.
Without any further talk we walked all the way to the sports center, a 10-15 minute walk, and as we were getting closer to wherever we were heading I had an ominous feeling, as the aura of PE and the smells of sport and hazings grew ever more prominent. Coach hadn't been angry or upset, God knows he doesn't hide those emotions, and he did say it was a surprise, but I couldn't shake that I wouldn't like the surprise.
As we exited the building into a dugout and then turned toward the field a bizarre sight revealed itself. Lined up in front of us were some of the more jacked jocks of the school, many of which were my most committed bullies. Brian, Bryan, Kyle, and the rest of them.
"I got word that you've had some problems with bullying," the coach suddenly began. "One of the players who alerted me to this also came up with a solution, which I thought was excellent. What if you joined us?"
I was trying to keep up with what coach just had said. Someone, probably from this group and very likely one of my bullies, had told coach "someone" bullied me and had a solution. Why would they do that? To be able to bully me even harder?
"After all, who would be stupid enough to mess with a member of the Iron Bat Cats?" coach continued. "I've already cleared this with administration. You'll get your final credits doing workout with us, instead of your previous extracurricular activities. The team is here to support you. They have all agreed to sign up as your daily point man on a schedule, to help you with that day's exercises. One person every weekday and two people each on Saturdays and Sundays. We'll have you look like a beast in no time."
Coach slapped me in the back hard enough to make me lose balance for a second, while what he had told me slowly worked its way into my brain. I could see some smiles in the group in front of me. Was this some advanced level torture from my bullies that the coach was oblivious to, or had he learned about my situation and arranged this to protect his team? If it was the former and I said no, the amount of bullying I've had so far would be nothing compared to what would happen. If however it was the latter coach wouldn't even allow me to say no.
"That's awesome! Thank you, guys!"
"It's settled then. Before you all get to know each other better I must mention that I can't let you play any real games, you haven't been properly selected and that would be unfair, but I need some way to track your progress. You are getting credits after all. We'll meet tomorrow after lunch to set up your body goals. Until then... Let the hazing begin!"
