Big theme of this season (and the whole series, really) is people can make obvious changes that could make their lives better, but for the most part they don’t. Tony’s way of doing things led to him where he’s at now (alone, separated from his family, still miserable) yet he keeps doing the same shit.

Tony was always bad and lived bad since the beginning. The deeper you watch the more funnier he gets. He gets fatter and more jolly. More handsome. He starts to look more like the pilsberry dough boy. Very doughy and jolly. He has a more unique personality and accent and sense of humor from season 4 on.
